Beautiful Home: 06.02.10

I was utterly charmed by the bright and airy weekend home of interior designer Erin Paige Pitts and her husband Gregory, which is located on Gibson Island in Maryland. I adore all the whites and blues paired with the rich wood and buckets of sunlight. Not to mention the open floor plan that was designed to facilitate easy entertaining.

The walls are painted in Decorators White with Super White 1-02 for the trim, both from Benjamin Moore. Chair pillows are covered in Darby Lane fabric by Robert Allen.

The blue-and-white rug, custom designed by Pitts, along with the pillows, give the room a splash of colour. The patterned pillows on the sofa are done in the Madura Lapis pattern by John Robshaw. I am really drawn to the ceiling, the coffee table (another custom piece), the fireplace screen and the Pottery Barn lanterns.

I love the idea of using indoor-outdoor fabrics for a summer house, as Pitts has done here for all main level seating, to make your furniture not only attractive but practical. The table is a custom design and the chairs are by David Edward. The french doors lead outside where there are views of the water. And how fab is the chandelier? It's a Library Collection Hudson Pendant from Baldinger Architectural Lighting.

I'm a sucker for a great kitchen island and I also adore the way the blue accents look in this spacious kitchen. The stools are from David Edward (Aussie Stool #72052), the wall paint is Borrowed Light #235 from Farrow and Ball.

Sun dappled terrace and pergola? I. Want.
Drapery canvas is from Sunbrella, lounge chairs are from David Edward.

The screened in porch is the perfect place for brunch. I'm mad for the jewel-toned Venetian glass light fixture from Marston and Langinger.
